OVERVIEW
The Miami Dolphins, recognized for their innovative approach to player care and ranked #1 in the NFLPA 2025 Report Card for training room and staff, have installed Visium Far-UVC technology to strengthen their commitment to player safety and performance.
Visium uses a specific wavelength of Far-UVC light (222nm) to continuously inactivate airborne and surface pathogens—even while spaces are occupied. The installation provides a discreet but powerful biosecurity measure for the team’s training facility, where player recovery, treatment, and physical readiness are paramount.
THE CHALLENGE
Training rooms and medical spaces in professional sports facilities are high-contact, high-turnover environments. Shared equipment, treatment tables, and exam spaces see constant use by players and staff, creating opportunities for pathogens such as MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) to spread.
Traditional cleaning methods, while essential, only address contamination at specific intervals—and do not continuously inactivate airborne microbes or surface pathogens between cleanings. The Dolphins sought a non-intrusive, always-on solution to further reduce microbial load and help enhance the health, safety and well-being of players and staff.
OUR SOLUTION: Visium Far-UVC
The Dolphins installed 15 Visium Far-UVC devices across four key spaces: the main training room and three adjacent exam rooms—covering 2,618 sq ft in total. The training room is the hub for physical therapy, hydration, massage, recovery treatments, and day-to-day medical care. The exam rooms support individualized medical evaluations and treatments. Recessed into the ceilings, Visium fixtures blend seamlessly into the space, delivering continuous sanitization without affecting training activities or medical procedures.

INDEPENDENT TEST RESULTS
To measure Visium’s impact in the Dolphins’ training and exam rooms, high-touch surfaces were swabbed for microbiological analysis with Visium turned OFF, then resampled two hours later after normal activity with Visium ON.
Within just two hours of operation, Visium reduced colony forming units (CFUs) on high-touch surfaces in the training room by an average of 40%. And, in one exam room, reductions were even greater— 63% on average across tested surfaces. The most notable finding was a 79% reduction on the exam room floor, a clinically significant and notoriously challenging surface to keep clean. Maintaining floor hygiene at this level supports overall environmental integrity and reduces potential cross-contamination risks.
