Little Dunes is New Hampshire’s first indoor sand play space, created by Ashley and Todd Blackington as a year-round gathering place for children and families in the Seacoast community.
The climate-controlled facility gives children a place to dig, build, pour and explore through open-ended sensory play, regardless of the weather outside. Every aspect of the facility was thoughtfully selected for an indoor play environment. Little Dunes features 33 tons of silica-free, dust-free, heat-sterilized Bahamian aragonite play sand designed specifically for children’s sand play.
For the owners of Little Dunes, maintaining a clean environment was a top priority from the beginning. Indoor play spaces bring children and families together in an active, highly shared setting. Play surfaces, toys and common areas are touched frequently, while airborne bacteria and viruses can spread as guests interact throughout the facility. Routine cleaning would remain essential, but the Little Dunes team wanted an additional solution that could operate continuously between cleaning activities. The technology needed to work while children, families and employees were present without interrupting play, introducing additional chemicals or creating more work for staff.
